February Featured Herb Box - The Guardian Box
A Year in Herbs, Presented by Susquehanna Botanicals
February - Guardian Box (Eastern White Pine, Rose)
- 1 oz Pine Tincture
- 2 oz Hand Sanitizer
- 2 oz Nourishing Face Oil
Mid-winter is here. Outside, it’s cold, dark, and gloomy. Inside, we may be feeling dried up, sluggish, and vulnerable; not just emotionally, but to all kinds of infections, too.
Our February plant ally, Eastern White Pine, is a true guardian of the natural world. While indigenous populations have historically used its resin to heal and protect wounds, Pine’s warming, uplifting, possibly antiseptic and anti-inflammatory qualities make it a prudent choice for those looking to best support their immune systems throughout the remainder of winter.
We added our Nourishing Face Oil to this box, with plant ally rose, as an added layer of protection; so you’re attending to your outer body as well as your inner. Make no mistake; while rose is known for its nurturing maternal energy, its berries (otherwise known as rose hips) contain high levels of Vitamin C–proving itself to be yet another powerful plant guardian.
ABOUT OUR MONTHLY HERB BOXES
Introducing “A Year In Herbs”, presented by the apothecary team at Susquehanna Botanicals.
“A Year in Herbs” is a monthly educational/spiritual experience with no subscription or commitment required.
We created these boxes for both newcomers to plant wisdom and experienced enthusiasts alike looking to align with the cycles of the earth. Whether you’re jumping into herbalism head-first or deepening your knowledge as a committed student, they are designed to offer a full spectrum of ways to intimately experience our plant allies first-hand, whilst bringing the cycles of our bodies into union with the cycles of the planet.
Our expert herbalists choose plants or fungi each month that align with the qualities of the season (and the bodily imbalances they beget), keeping in mind their respective growing and harvesting schedules. Then, they curate a collection of our products and formulas that feature them as active ingredients.
While we do provide short write-ups for each box, we strongly encourage customers to research each featured ally on their own as they experience them throughout the month; studying the unique ways their body may relate to the plant, or digging in to see if their unique ancestry holds any lore that draws them in more deeply.
Our monthly boxes make great gifts for the burgeoning herbalist, but also serve as an inexpensive way to begin integrating herbal remedies into a self-care routine.
Because we are a small-batch apothecary, runs of these boxes are limited. Please be mindful of this when considering delaying your order!
